Indonesian Film Festival ‘Enchantment of Authenticity’ is fast approaching! Main Screenings may not be until early next month but IFF has organised exciting star-studded special events prior to the main screening. From interactive discussions to open-air cinemas with live performances, here is a complete list and details of Indonesian Film Festival 2019 special events:

Under The Stars

Under The Stars, also familiarly known as UTS, is our first event of the year, a free, open to public, open-air cinema that holds the theme ‘Espresso Your Ideas’. Relating to this theme, UTS is to screen a fan-favourite movie by the award-winning Indonesian film director, Angga Dwimas Sasongko. To accompany the showcasing of ‘Filosofi Kopi 2: Ben & Jodi’, there will be live performance by Klaudspirits and special Indonesian refreshments served. Moreover, this year’s UTS Indonesian Corner will be an exhibition of the various types of Indonesian coffee.

Through The Lens

On its third year, Through The Lens would like to present 14th Indonesian Film Festival Short Film Competition winning screenplay. In addition, the popular short film by Aditya Ahmad, Sepatu Baru, will also be featured in the event and be amongst the topic of discussion of the night. Our panellists this year will include Siobhan Jackson and Andrew O’Keefe from the University of Melbourne. Also, the director of Sepatu Baru and many other award-winning short film, Aditya Ahmad, will be the guest star of the night.

4th Wall

Inspired by late night talk shows, 4th Wall is an interactive and engaging discussion involving some of the biggest personalities from Indonesia’s movie industry. This year, with the theme ‘Original’, we aim to focus on the importance of originality in stories and narratives of a film. With guest stars Nirina Zubir and Oka Antara, 4th Wall will host an in-depth and close-up interview regarding the process of filmmaking, from brainstorming ideas to assembling intricate ideas into films. Behind-the-scenes details to the preparation went through by actors and actresses will be disclosed during the discussion. To top it all off, this event is completed with local Indonesian snacks and a live band. And as this event is an intimate event, there will also be mingling sessions in which everyone will get the chance to snap a picture and have personal conversations with our guest stars.
